HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF EFFORTS: HOW THE WIRELESS COMMUNITY CAN HELP
There is a desperate need to reestablish communications in the disaster areas. Members of the telecommunication
industry are working together to provide the assistance and equipment required to repair and replace
vital communications networks in areas that were impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
PART-15.ORG in cooperation with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal Emergency
Management (FEMA) is preparing a Disaster Relief effort to support the build-out of communications
networks in the Disaster area after Hurricane Katrina. Redline is pleased to support PART-15.ORG
in these efforts.
PART-15.ORG is encouraging members of the wireless telecommunications industry to work together
to coordinate communications assets and personnel to provide potential assistance to responding emergency
services personnel and agencies. Assistance may include re-establishing internal communications and
providing connectivity to all disaster relief efforts by installing point to point, point to multipoint
links, IP Web cams and VoIP services.
