Redline and I-Systems bring wireless broadband to companies in Chile

Redline’s award-winning RedCONNEX™ AN-50e professional broadband wireless infrastructure solution connects multiple businesses

TORONTO, ON – November 9, 2006 - Redline Communications, a leading provider of standards-based broadband wireless equipment, and I-Systems, a communications infrastructure specialist in the design and installation of telecommunications equipment and systems, today announced the introduction of wireless broadband service to businesses in Lake Llanquihue, Chile. The service is being delivered via Redline’s industry-leading AN-50e, part of the RedCONNEX™ family of professional broadband wireless infrastructure products.

I-Systems installed the AN-50e network to establish the high-speed wireless connections over distances ranging from 12 to 32 kilometers in the Lake Llanquihue region.  The network is capable of delivering data, voice and video communications at speeds of up to 35 Mbps. Operating in the 5.4 GHz spectrum, the network uses double redundancy components and systems at all points in the network to minimize environmental interference that could significantly impact data throughput and link reliability.

“This challenging project connects multiple locations that were previously considered too difficult and costly to reach using traditional wired communications technologies,” said Felipe Larrain, Project Manager, I-Systems.  “After an exhaustive evaluation of available technologies, we selected Redline’s RedCONNEX AN-50 professional broadband wireless infrastructure solution to provide the reliable, secure, high-throughput links that our customer needed.”

“Redline’s award-winning AN-50e helped I-Systems overcome the performance limitations, high cost and slow deployment traditionally associated with legacy systems,” said Kevin Suitor, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, Redline Communications.  “This network is another example of how Redline is helping companies to cost-effectively access the voice, video and data communications services they need to remain competitive in an increasingly global marketplace.”

RedCONNEX™ AN-50e
The RedCONNEX AN-50e is Redline's high speed wireless Ethernet bridge configured for point-to-point (PTP) operation, with point to multipoint (PMP) operation capabilities. Accommodating backhaul and access functions, the AN-50e system is the industry's first true high performance, high capacity, multi-services OFDM platform that delivers an over the air rate of up to 72 Mbps, equivalent to 49 Mbps at the Ethernet level.

The AN-50e system operates in the license exempt 5.470 - 5.725 GHz and 5.725 - 5.850 GHz bands and includes advanced technologies to address potential inter-cell interference issues. In PTP mode the AN-50e rises to this challenge with a unique patented bi-directional adaptive modulation technique, automatically selecting any of eight modulation schemes (from BPSK to 64 QAM) in order to adjust to link quality degradation while providing the highest throughput for a given deployment scenario.

RedCONNEX™
Redline’s RedCONNEX family of broadband wireless infrastructure products includes the AN-50e high speed wireless point-to-point (PTP) and point to multipoint (PMP) Ethernet bridge, the AN-30e carrier-grade TDM backhaul solution for mobility and enterprise network operators, and the new AN-80i broadband wireless backhaul solution.  Operating in the license-exempt 5 GHz band, the AN-80i leverages proven OFDM technology to deliver industry-leading, high-speed Ethernet throughput. With its exceptional long range capabilities, the AN-80i is able to establish and maintain reliable, robust connectivity that can exceed 80 km (50 miles) in clear line-of-sight conditions.

Redline’s RedMAX™ Family
Redline’s RedMAX family of WiMAX solutions is the world’s first complete system to receive the WiMAX Forum Certified™ mark for conformance to the WiMAX standards for performance and interoperability. Redline’s carrier-class RedMAX Base Station (AN-100U) supports voice, video, and prioritized data traffic, enabling long-range, high-capacity wireless broadband networks.  Redline’s WiMAX products also include the RedMAX Indoor Subscriber Unit (SU-I) and Outdoor Subscriber Unit (SU-O) designed for enterprise and residential services.  The RedMAX Management Suite enables operators to monitor and control the network, ensuring high service availability. Redline is maintaining its WiMAX leadership with the expansion of its RedMAX family to include products for additional frequency bands, applications and standards.
