Redline unveils new 5.4 GHz RedCONNEX™ AN-80i broadband wireless solution
Redline’s 802.16-2005 platform undergoes interoperability and performance testing with other WiMAX™ vendors New AN-80i solution enables service providers to utilize the 5.4 GHz spectrum for broadband wireless networks
TORONTO, ON – February 21, 2007 - Redline Communications Inc., a leading provider of standards-based WiMAX and broadband wireless infrastructure products, today introduced the latest release of its RedCONNEX™ AN-80i family of broadband wireless infrastructure solutions. The new AN-80i* is now available for the license-exempt 5.4 GHz spectrum, which has been approved for use in the United States, Canada and parts of Europe, as well as the 5.8 GHz band, offering service providers the ability to deploy or expand their wireless networks in more areas.
The RedCONNEX AN-80i is a robust professional broadband wireless infrastructure solution that delivers connection speeds of up to 108 Mbps. The 5.4 GHz AN-80i delivers the secure connections required for a range of commercial, consumer and government applications, and enables long range connections in a wide range of environments. Incorporating Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS), the AN-80i allows co-existence of wireless communications systems with traditional radar systems in the same frequency band.
“The availability of license-exempt spectrum is crucial to the cost-effective deployment of wireless broadband networks,” said Brian Magnuson, President, Cascade Networks / Last Mile Gear. “We are pleased that Redline has chosen to focus on the rapid delivery of its AN-80i solution for the 5.4 GHz spectrum to enable service providers and other network operators to take advantage of this increased 255 MHz of license-exempt spectrum availability. With the AN-80i, companies now have a cost-effective 5.4 GHz wireless backhaul and access network product that provides an alternative solution for areas where new deployments in the 5.8 GHz may not feasible.”
“Redline’s RedCONNEX products have been used around the world for delivering the highest quality voice, video and data applications,” said Kevin Suitor, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, Redline Communications Inc. “By adding the 5.4 GHz AN-80i to our growing RedCONNEX portfolio of broadband wireless solutions, Redline gives carriers and network operators more choice and the industry’s best performance and value for backhaul solutions.”
High-Bandwidth Applications
The RedCONNEX AN-80i supports a range of broadband wireless applications including backhaul for municipal wireless mesh networks, connectivity for video surveillance systems, transportation systems such as railways, oil and gas operations and providing backhaul for WiMAX networks including Redline’s RedMAX™ family of WiMAX Forum Certified™ systems, among others.
Tropos Networks, the market leader for metro-scale wireless mesh network systems, has identified the AN-80i as an ideal solution for delivering the backhaul required to support a large capacity mesh network. “Metro-scale Wi-Fi networks deliver critical infrastructure, not only for connectivity for business and residents, but for police, fire and other public safety services,” said Chris Rittler, Vice President of Business Development at Tropos Networks. “Redline’s AN-80i provides the reliability, speed and bandwidth we need to ensure these networks are available without fail and support the voice, video and data communications used by these organizations.”
RedCONNEX™ AN-80i Family of Products
Operating in the license-exempt 5 GHz band, the AN-80i leverages proven OFDM technology to deliver industry-leading, high-speed Ethernet throughput. With its exceptional long range capabilities, the AN-80i is able to establish and maintain reliable, robust connectivity that can exceed 80 km (50 miles) in clear line-of-sight conditions. Available with a wide selection of antennas, the outdoor AN-80i system includes an audible antenna alignment indicator for quick and simple installation. The AN-80i incorporates several industry standards including AES as well as the IEEE 802.3af Power-over Ethernet (PoE) standard for supplying Ethernet data and power to the unit.
The AN-80i is an excellent choice for companies that require cost-effective, carrier-grade solutions to support advanced applications including transparent LAN, VoIP and high-quality video. The AN-80i redefines the benchmark for value – giving operators the industry’s most cost-effective solution for deploying and expanding their wireless network offerings.
