Redline and Starent Networks join forces to deliver complete Mobile WiMAX solution

-- Solution based on leading technologies and open standards will enable service providers to roll-out true Mobile WiMAX networks --

TORONTO, ON, September 30, 2008 -- Redline Communications Group Inc. (“Redline”) (TSX and AIM: RDL), a leading provider of WiMAX and broadband wireless infrastructure products and Starent Networks, Corp. (Nasdaq: STAR), a leading provider of infrastructure solutions that enable mobile operators to deliver multimedia services, today announced the two companies have formed a strategic alliance for the co-development of a complete Mobile WiMAX solution.

The joint solution will incorporate Redline’s RedMAX 4C™ family of Mobile WiMAX radio access network products and Starent Network’s ASN Gateway and Home Agent (HA) solution for mobile WiMAX networks, resulting in a complete carrier class solution. Redline’s RedMAX products and Starent’s ASN Gateway and HA are designed to enable service operators to expand their networks to support various access technologies and provide subscribers with 4G mobile services based on best-in-class equipment.

“By incorporating Starent’s ASN Gateway and HA solution with our mobile WiMAX products, which include our WiMAX Forum Certified® customer premise equipment, carriers will be able to enhance the subscriber experience while leveraging their current investments in core infrastructure and applications,” said Kevin Suitor, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Redline Communications. An ASN Gateway is important to the roll-out of carrier-class Mobile WiMAX networks and Starent’s platform supports the high performance applications and advanced traffic handling required for a successful WiMAX network.”

“Redline is recognized among the most widely deployed providers of WiMAX Forum Certified systems. Redline’s experience will greatly enhance our ability to deliver a comprehensive mobile WiMAX solution that meets the needs of carriers,” said Thierry Maupilé, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Starent Networks.

“The combination of Redline’s industry leading WiMAX technology with Starent’s intelligent ASN Gateway and Home Agent is a key asset to network operators as it will provide a tool to deliver the capacity, features and applications needed to deploy standards-based 4G mobile networks,” said Monica Paolini, Founder and President of Senza Fili Consulting, a leading analyst and consulting firm specializing in wireless data.

Redline’s agreement to partner with Starent Networks on a complete Mobile WiMAX solution is part of the Redline Ecosystem Verification (‘REV’) program, which ensures interoperability and support of advanced network management and communication services between Redline’s RedMAX 4C™ Mobile WiMAX and RedMAX™ family of WiMAX Forum Certified® products with devices and applications being developed by other companies in the WiMAX and communications ecosystems.

RedMAX 4C™ Mobile WiMAX
The RedMAX 4C™, which is based on the WiMAX industry’s 802.16e-2005 standards for mobile WiMAX, supports a wide range of fixed, portable and mobile wireless services including support for Voice and Video over IP, broadband Internet access used to support highly valued education, medical, transportation and municipal applications, VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) and other advanced communications services. The RedMAX 4C™ Mobile WiMAX platform is designed to enable operators to maximize the reach and customer density required for a profitable carrier business model. The RedMAX 4C™ includes a modular, standardized µTCA (micro Telecommunications Computing Architecture) chassis base station that is small, lightweight and easy to deploy. RedMAX 4C™ will also include a suite of indoor and outdoor fixed and portable end-user devices including laptops, mobile handsets and PDAs. Redline’s new WiMAX offering is also designed to facilitate the integration of its existing RedMAX™ products with its RedMAX 4C™ technologies, providing operators a path to true mobility.

Starent’s ASN Gateway and Home Agent Solutions
Starent’s ASN Gateway is a subscriber mobility access gateway for IEEE 802.16e Mobile WiMAX radio access networks. The ASN Gateway is designed to support connection management and mobility across cell sites and inter-service provider network boundaries through processing of subscriber control and bearer data traffic. The ASN Gateway serves as the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) authenticator for subscriber identity and acts as a RADIUS client to the operator’s AAA servers. The Starent Home Agent acts as a subscriber anchor point maintaining the IP session as the subscriber moves through or across networks. The ASN Gateway and Home Agent are supported on Starent’s ST16™ and ST40™ multimedia core platforms — the preferred solutions for many of the world’s most successful mobile operators. This carrier-class platform boasts exceptional reliability and performance characteristics that allow Mobile WiMAX operators to enhance the subscriber experience.
