Redline offers a suite of tools and on-line best practices documentation to its Partners on the Redline recommended approach to wireless network deployment.  These best practice guidelines are structured around three phases in the life cycle of a link. Redline’s prime focus is on the services. Each of these guidelines forms the basis of a consulting service that is available to ensure the smooth deployment of a wireless network.

Program Management

The Program Manager is a member of the Redline Deployment Services group and supports the customer in achieving success over all phases of a wireless deployment project.  The Program Manager provides project management services by assisting with the development and review of project plans and by translating them into detailed project and performance baselines to guide the Redline partner team execution.  The Program Manager is responsible and accountable for the cross-functional planning, execution and delivery of the entire wireless deployment project.  The Program Manager oversees and facilitates the day to day progress of the project and is responsible for critical processes involving project initiation, project planning, project implementation, project tracking, change management, variance analysis, corrective action, project visibility and project closure.  The Program Manager maintains the overall project tempo by monitoring project accomplishments, facilitating the expeditious resolution of problems, optimizing resource deployment and driving the project forward toward key business decision points within the project. The Redline Program Manager is also the Redline Customer Advocacy prime for the specific accounts he/she is working with.

Planning Phase: Cell Planning

Cell planning for RedMAX is a key component in the overall Redline product delivery process and the critical RF network design part of a successful deployment in the field.
The final product of this activity is the detailed wireless network plan for a RedMAX wireless network including:

  • Recommend the approach to build an in-house cell planning capability
  • Recommend a WiMAX-capable coverage, capacity and frequency-planning tool. Redline recommends and supports the use of CelPlan tool for RedMAX.
  • Adopt and follow a systematic methodology for WIMAX deployment.
  • Assist with calibration of tool propagation models for WiMAX bands.
  • Recommend appropriate mapping and GIS data bases for the target markets.
  • Redline Certified Partners who would like to offer wireless RF network design capabilities should have available certain resources in their organizations including skilled RF planners and an RF wireless network design tool with WiMAX capabilities. The recommended partner RF planning tool permits the determination of
  • The detailed site configuration
  • Antenna specifications
  • Tower height specifications
  • The capacity plan
  • The frequency plan for the network

Building Phase: Program Management, Customer Acceptance Test Plan (ATP) and Wireless Network Performance Audit
The building phase covers all the wireless system installation, commissioning and network deployment including optimization.

  • Customer Acceptance Test Plan
  • Wireless Network Performance Audit

Operating Phase: On-Site Resident Engineer
To keep Redline networks running efficiently, customers may need additional staff to supplement their operational capabilities, or to perform a continuing variety of in-depth network analysis or management tasks.
The Redline On-Site Resident Engineer service complements a customer’s staff by providing experienced, knowledgeable professionals to meet the customer’s specific requirements.  With this expertise, the customer can acquire a technical competitive advantage, which could help protect and expand markets.

Services provided may include corrective and preventative maintenance, as well as support for Redline equipment installed at the customer’s site, and informal training for the customer’s personnel as required.
Services to be provided by the Resident Engineer will be dependent upon the customer’s needs.  Resident Engineers will be selected for their background and experience in performing the required activities.
